In addition to language instruction, ALC Meknes and the American Cultural Association share several initiatives. Community service is a core value on display through clubs, scholarships, and other outreach efforts. The Arabic Language Institute in Fez (ALIF) brings foreign university students and professionals to Morocco for Arabic language training and cultural immersion.
The American Arts Center in Casablanca offers a wide range of arts and cultural programming to the community, free of charge. Collaborations with Brainlyne, first introduced at ALC Rabat and now also at ALC Fes and Tangier, offer in-depth support, guidance, and opportunities to high school students preparing to study abroad.
Our community service program has 25+ active members who meet weekly and engage in volunteerism. The club is designed to instill leadership skills through civic activities that help those in need.
The Arabic Language Institute in Fez (ALIF) opened in 1983 and serves foreign university students and professionals. ALIF is a program of the American Language Center Fes.
The American Arts Center of Casablanca opened in 2022 and is a part of the American Language Center Casablanca.
The first ALCs in Rabat and Tangier were founded in the 1950’s by the US Embassy and the US Information Service with the purpose of teaching English as a foreign language. By the 1970’s, independent non-governmental management was needed and the American Cultural Association (ACA) was created. The ACA and ALC Rabat are a Moroccan-based, non-profit organization funded solely by tuition, with no government affiliation or financial support.
The American Language Center Meknes is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote positive relations and understanding between the people of Morocco and the US through language, culture, ideas and opportunities.
